David was the youngest of our family of four siblings. Being the only boy in a house full of girls sometimes had its challenges especially since he went on to have two girls of his own!
Even though I moved to Spain 23 years ago and we weren't in touch 24/7, we always shared a special, enduring sister-and-brother bond. No matter the distance, he was my rock, and I always leaned on David in times of need.
He was wonderfully laid-back and always ready with a quick
one-liner joke. Having retired from British Aerospace some years ago, I used to worry about what he would do with himself in retirement, knowing he wasn't naturally a "DIY man." We shared a running joke between us: I’d always ask him, "Have you finally finished that kitchen you started over 20 years ago?" But Catherine has lovingly reminded me how active he actually was he really enjoyed doing his DIY and even managed to take a couple of holidays. That always brought a smile, especially knowing his classic stance on flying: "If you worked in British Aerospace, you would never fly," though he managed it anyway!
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Catherine, and his wonderful daughters, Lucy and Alice, who meant the world to him. There is going to be a massive hole in all of our lives without him, but his memory and his quick wit will stay with us always.
Rest in peace, David
From your devoted loving sister,
Jo xx
You will always remain in my thoughts and my heart.
in loving memory from
